Final year at PRBI!

Ok, so it's been over a month since someone's posted, so I'll give my update now I guess. I really didn't feel like updating everyone over summer because, well, it was a pretty tough summer. After college I toured with Highest Call (again, think Elevate) as a sound man (which was awesome!).

Then I went home to Campbell River. That's when I found out that my city was not in great shape. Basically, there were a lot more layoffs than job openings. I thought I would be ok because I was pretty much guaranteed the same job I had worked the summer before (Christian daycare), but then the daycare didn't get their student grant for the first time ever, and they could not afford to hire me. So I decided to check out a few other daycares, and there was interest for a male with experience, and I even got a job at a daycare, only to be fired a couple days later when THEY found out they couldn't afford me either (not enough kids). So I had been unemployed for a month, and I had no idea what I was going to do. I was considering going to camp, since I knew I'd get a job, and I figured it was too late to go to another city to find a job, and then having to pay rent and buy food. It was rough, but then God miraculously granted me a job: working with a daycare put on by the city of Campbell River!! So I got to work with kids again, and I got paid $18/hr because the city was my employer!! It was definitely a gift from God, but the position wouldn't start until July, which is how I was unemployed for two months.
Anyways, that job was awesome, and I also managed to pick up a job at Ricky's Restaurant, working weekends there. So I worked 7 days a week, and the only day I got off was B.C. day. Something else that was really tough was that because of the job situation, many of my friends had already gone treeplanting or looking for jobs elsewhere; basically, I had no close Christian friends. And as you all know, that's not the way life was really meant to be lived. God gave me strength, and I was also able to get closer with my family, but it was still really hard.

But now I'm at college, and life is looking up. It's a busy year, but I think it's a good busy. I'm a Resident Leader (RL) this year, which is somewhere between Briercrest's RA and RD I think. So I'm in charge of a floor (25 students) and four care-leaders (CL/RA). It's been going really well so far. I'm also playing on the men's soccer team again, I may be the official women's soccer team coach (right now I'm just helping), and I'm leading worship again, and I'm a care-partner (a CL's assistant), I'm doing my internship at the college, and taking 17 credits this semester. So it's busy, but I don't feel overwhelmed. In fact, I'm almost done September's homework, even though the women's soccer season started this week. God is good. I'm having my struggles too, especially when it comes to reading the Bible, but He's continuing to teach me. Anyways, that's my life right now. I'm just curious: who IS at Briercrest right now? I'm hoping there's some people, I might be able to find a way down there. Alright, hope you guys are doing well. Signing off.
