Quick update
Brightwood Ranch 2008:
Well so far, coming into this 4th week, things have been really rough. We had 15 (of our 350 some on the waiting list) go to Lone Prairie camp, and the director's exact words.. lol "our staff are really being stretched" Haha, working at this camp has has so many big risks but even bigger rewards. I have to 'intervene' on many camper duels, break up fights, deal with bed wetting and homesickness, hate and fear, and even some emergency procedures. We had a girl last week just 3 hrs before the buses were there run away. It took us an hour and a half to find her, we had to drag her back, she was about a mile off camp property. Most nights I get to bed here about 1/2 in the morning but some nights I deal with fights and run aways around 2/3 in the morning. Through our 2 weeks of heck (staff training) I am now First Aid/CPR Level B certified, qualified to belay, teach archey, riflry, basic horse riding skills and self defense training. I deal with OCD/FAS/ADHD kids and I have evn had a child with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) ALWAYS worrying, asking questions and what not...life here is like being a dad. Some of these kids have wished that we were thier dads, every week I am left weeping in the parking lot for my boys. Please continue to pray for me this week especially...Saturday night football I dislocated my knee and I can admit I spat a few choice words, I came extremely close to blacking out. I can limp now (thank God, friggin crutches..lol) but its hard to catch up with kids and restrain them when I am in pain. And this weekend I am also running the EFCC National Confernce, PRAY FOR EXTREME ENERGY..lol. At least when I drive back sunday we get somewhat of a break, its squirt camp..lol..only 3 days. Anywhoo, thats life in a nutshell.
Oh and ps, my brother inlaw fell off a roof into a trench last week, broke his back in 3 places, bit off his tounge on the way down and split open his chin, he will make it and be able to walk, but he will have a back brace on for 6 months, and then he wont be allowed to work for another year. Right now he can barely talk. And pray for my sister cuz she is very nausious about these things and cant even change his back brace cuz shes too scared.
I miss you all and think that I have a possible Kaleo 8 here, haha, he's my junior, and he's really into what Ive been preaching to him about Kaleo, so pray for that too, his name is Dustin Penner.

Hey Derkson, thanks for the update. And I thought I was working hard! I definitely know what you're goin through with the OCD/FAS/ADHD/PTSD stuff, except when we get those kids, we luckily have a whole staff member dedicated for that child. So I dunno how you guys can manage all that except by God's grace. Prayin for ya and your family, I got a little nauseous just thinking what your bro-in-law is goin through. May God give you the strength and grace you need right now.
Thanks man, yeah, without any other camp experiance, I can already say in complete confidence..If you camp last a whole summer @ Brightwood, you can work at ANY other camp, this place is brutal but awesome. And we have 2 staff that are the "dealers' of the roughest kids, but thats simply so that we can pass them off in order to keep the rest of the cabin in line. And oh yeah, my bro AMAZINGLY went to the doctor the other day and his "6 months to a year" turned into 6-8 weeks until he's ready to go back to work..PRAYER REALLY WORKS!!! He is also expected to make a FULL recovery. Anywhoodles, God bless bro, have a blasted summer, and hope to see you again in the near future!
I'm out..
