Reading Break...
Hey guys, Mikayla's mom opened up their house for reading break, so I think it would be sweet to get like a whole load of people going.... I think it is great that I am advertising this, but I think it'd be a blast... Mikayla will object to this if it is a problem but it would just be pure fun, think about it.

Photo Shoot
Hey hey
Well I was looking through some SALTS pictures today and I stumbled apon this photo shoot of some very handsome guys. At first it was just Brady and I then Lampard joined in and finally Jim couldnt resist so he came to. Oh yes and Charis was the lovely photographer, that had the ppleasure of watching us do all this. So to set the scence it was an exciting day on the boat (who knows what happened) and as the day was winding to a close Brady was on stern watch and the Canadian flag was blowing romantically behind him. Then I stumbled apon this and it just screamed photo shoot, so never one to miss a good opportunity I found Charis and her camera. Then the posing began. Here are some shoots.

Hermeneutics = Insanity
Hey guys, so right now I am 'working' on my hermeneutics paper and I am pretty much going insane, although I have really not too much done. Yikes. This is hard. For all you guys back at home who were so jealous of me coming here, you guys can do all the homework I have to do and I'll go out on all the fun trips. Yikes, it's a good thing that I don't get stressed out easily. Anyways, i don't even know if anyone posted anything about "DA KLUB" but I really think that brady or justin should post some picutures or something about it. But I guess I'll tell you guys a bit about it. So we have this little box hole thing in the lobby and brady and justin dressed up all like 80's clubbing people and put some crazy blinking lights inside of this thing and we saran wrapped them in there. It was so funny the two of them ( good thing they are both so skinny) dancing in there to techno music, I think we got it on video. It was pretty entertaining actually. Anyways I am really only blogging so that I can continue procrastinating until supper, so I can go eat, but really I don't have much more to talk about. so... ya, have a gooder.

Room 212
I though it would be cool to give everyone an introduction to our room.

Far left: Matt Parker: Parker is like the gentle giant. He enjoys long walks on the beach and loves to help those in need. He has saved many other students from near death, drowning experiences. Parker's favorite place to be is the bathroom
Upper middle: Matt Downey: Matt is an amazing guy. He loves to play the bad guy but inside he's like a fluffy, cuddly, teddy bear. Downey is my hero in so many ways. He also plays a mean guitar and he sings like an angel. Not even joking either.
Lower middle: Jonathan Weaver: Weaver is the kaleo Hunk. He has a girl friend to which he is fully commited 100% but finds time to show other girls what it means to be a Godly man. He loves to run and play sports and can often be seen in some shorts and a sweat soaked T-shirt with a ridiculous little head band on. Weaver is our quiet thoughtful guy.
Far Right: Me, Andrew Haws: I'm pretty much the baby of the room. Although I am actually older than Matt parker and almosts as Old as Matt Downey everyone knows I've got the boyish spirit. I love music as you can see. I like attention too. My favorite room here, at least this week, is th prayer room. It's the place I can go and bare my soul. Whatever is bugging me gets written down somewhere. I have lots of growing up to do, as do we all.
We are room 212 and we would love you all to pray for us.

24/7 week of Prayer
ok, so everyone knows about this week being our 24/7 week of prayer which is totally awesome. I have always wanted to be more dedicated to prayer and such, this is just so awesome that we get to pray for an hour each day, it pumps me up. I have to tell you guys something that is just so cool, on my first hour of praying I sat there just praying for God's presence to be with us for this whole week and everything like that, it was so crazy, not only did I feel an amazing amount of joy but my whole body all of a sudden went numb. It was so weird, but totally awesome because God is totally awesome. Personally I already feel like this prayer week has affected us as a group. I have been waiting for something or someone to bluntly tell us how it is, thank you Charis, cuz I have been feeling that way ever since I have gotten here. This week I think is the time that we all throw off our masks and be honest with one another. God will work through this, and our prayers are all heard, and truthfully some of mine have already started being answered, GOD LOVES US SO MUCH!! I love that he loves me so much, don't you?

Soooo
Finally I finished my Spiritual Formations work. I even got it done early about 3 hours early. Ohhh so exciting. Now its off to another fun week spent in prayer, and probably alot more in hermeneutics and the Pentateuch. Oh well. Anyway I had the privaledge of being the counselor to 7 totally awesome guys this weekened. It was actually the most amzing time I've had here yet. To be perfectly honest I was pretty bummed out about having to counsel this retreat because I usually prefer the older age group of Junior Highs but God had something better in mind. I can only surmise that God knew I needed this totally awesome weekened and thats why he decided to put me as a juniors counselor instead of a junior high. I can only hope that it may have been for the kids too. Anyway for everyone who prays for jus keep it up we need lots of prayer sometimes it just gets tough living in such close quarters with a large amount of sleep deprivation and no real personal space. All in all its fun but yeah it gets tough so please keep up the prayers.
No marriage
Ok, so lets clear this whole thing up. I am not looking for a husband. Apparently Justin doesn't love me which is good because I am not looking to get married.... whatever..... Scott, no, Think of what you would be doing to Charis. Sorry guys but I am not looking for a husband or nothing......not now anyways...
BIBLE IS SO COOL!!
Hey, I think the majority of people have heard this and laughed at me but I am so super stoked. If you guys need a way to remember when my birthday is so you can send me presents.... look in Genesis chapter 8 verse 4 where it says "and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat." So as you can see my birthday is July 17th and I think that is pretty cool. My mom says that this just shows that God has amazing plans for me.... I think this is super cool..... BY THE WAY>>>> I'm not looking for a husband... so Justin Jaarsma is just finding ways to express that he is madly in love with me and really just wants to marry me..... cuz Jaarsma wants to be a mailman when he grows up just for me......

News and Geezers from Kaleo
So anyways, the other day I was walking through the jungle... just kidding (Jordan's quote, not mine). Update for those people who read the blog but don't bother looking at the calender: This week coming up is 24/7 week of prayer, where we take shifts so that there's 1 or 2 people praying at any given time... including at night/early morning. I had to get those times, haha. I love being a night owl... and this time I have an excuse!
In other news: On Thursday we helped out with S.A.L.T.S., the Mustard Seed, and Daycamps. The Mustard Seed crew appeared to have the best time helping a church distribute food and clothing to homeless people. S.A.L.T.S. crew had a beautiful day for dismantling the ship for winter season. The Daycamp had 2 people show up... so that crew just worked around camp... but still had fun doing it. The Mustard Seed (my group) also went to see Nana Shirley (our adopted Kaleo Grandma) and we promised to write down the story of how we met her (since she forgets about every two minutes). For the uninitiated, Nana Shirley is the coolest 87 year old ever, even though she forgets her age sometimes. She dances, sings, and cracks off the funniest jokes. Just ask Kirk and Phil about those jokes.
This weekend we have a bunch of young'uns and a bunch of geezers staying with us. The young'uns are grades 1-5 for Junior Retreat, and the geezers are the youth workers sent here for a conference. That's right... I'm talking about Risky Fisky, the Wray, and the Myles (Miles and Miles of family, hehe). Haha, just joking about the geezer part. They're younger than Stan... much younger. Hope I didn't burst your bubble Stan.
So yea, finished most of my homework, and don't want to do any more this weekend. I'm ready for relaxing... and perhaps a prank as well. Watch out!!
O yea, I almost forgot. The picture for this post is on Strathcona again, when I was trying to take a nice picture of other people hiking when Jon stepped in front of my camera and stuck out his tongue at me. How rude!

Disclaimer
Occasionally, a student goes beyond the call of duty in completing a course assignment, to the amusement of all. I saw this one and had to pass it on. It needed to be only a line or two stating that she had read the textbook, but it became more - probably in the wee hours of the night. Enjoy.

Homesickness? What's that?
Hey all, I just wanted to post a huge huge answer to prayer. I have been praying and others have prayed for my severe homesickness to leave and it has. I am having an amazing time out here, hanging out and getting to know people. I have been able to let everyone see who I am really am... Crazy Crazy Charissa and it is so awesome. I want to thank all the people who have been praying for me, and just for everyone at Kaleo for just being so awesome to me. I am having a blast. The school work is a little crazy sometimes... maybe because I Procratinate so badly sometimes, but it gets done I guess. Anyways I am getting stoked for surfing so until I have like one sentence that I can drag out into a whole blog like this one.... I will not blog until then?? Yikes.... later gater

SO TIRED

So for anyone who cares I am so tired right now. Why am I so tired? Truth be told its completely my own fault. I stay up late to hangout, play around, or do homework. I don't even know why, I just do it. I think many people are feeling a little tired. Amanda Lindsay is nuts, Charis Banks is pranking the life out of everyone, and everyone else is in a zombie state. Anyway I think we're just lacking discipline. Theres a prayer request hidden somewhere in that. Ok i got to go to the bathroom so i'm gonna stop.

Gushy Fun.

Well so Dylan was swimming with Teri and Jen Lee, the trio spotted a sun fish. Sun fish are like star fish but not as stiff, the are gooey, and stink! So the trio brought it back to the dorm, unsure who to chose they made their choice and stuck the stinky, gooey, salty sun fish in a select persons shower... Bordem has left the boys dorm.

Hello again....
Hey everyone! A shout-out to Campbell River... the most beautiful city in the world. Not even Qwanoes compares. For those who actually go/went to CRCS, I met Matt Blackburn and Danee Sader tonight in Victoria at a place called "The Place"! That was cool. Also at Qwanoes Road Tour, I met Matt Ness and Deanne and Claire Derkson. (I really hope I spelt all those names right.)
For those actually interested in my life, I've been interning this church in Nanaimo called The Meeting Place along with Downey and Jen, and we got to help out with worship today! For those who know what EasyWorship is (CRBC) I've also recommended that program to them, since right now they're using PowerPoint... it's kinda sad actually. I hope they buy EasyWorship and make their lives easier.
What else am I doing... staying up late usually, both cause of homework and cause I want to... leading worship at camp this week... and just havin fun. I'm finally getting a few slack moments after our Hermeneutics course (Bible interpretation, for the uninitiated). Other than that, I'm lovin life here. Still miss you guys back at CRCS though.
Hmm, I should put a picture on. Here's a priceless one of Downey standing still on Strathcona Trip (before the kayak accident) while the girls pitch up the tent.
We also gotta find a way to show you guys the movies we made in Hermeneutics... good stuff. :D

Greek?
Hey all, how goes it? I hope all is well. School's sweet. (Hi mom!) This weekend I got to go off of the sky scraper and man was it awesome. The best part was after I went off it I was so excited I fell down the stairs trying to get down. I wish it could have been captured on tape. Anyways so after this hermenuetics class I have some great calling to speak Greek. or rather to learn to speak Greek. It's weird I think the big guy up there is telling me something.... anyone know Greek so they can teach me?

What is mudding you might ask. Your answer!
Well Craymer Downey and I all went mudding... don't know what mudding is. Well i could go into long drawn out explainations, wait why not. Mudding; ma-ding, a form of entertainment where on goes drivinga vehicle, through wet dirt, which makes mud. sounds like fun, is it ever well heres a pic, little dark but tomorrow will be a different story.
Well after that excursion i retired to my room and chilled out and played with my camera. Oh dear the random pictures. Well heres the best of them all.
A Post From The Cripple

Well it's been a while since I've been in here. The last few weeks have been amazing and very eventful. After being involved in a serious kayaking accident (don't worry, I got the worst of it, BenBad is fine) I've been left hobbling around camp but hey, it's all good and fun...and makes for a good laugh. SALTS was amazing! Here's a picture of the cripple climbing in the rigging. Ha! And the doctor asked me how I managed to crack an indestructible fiberglass cast...if he only knew :) Kesler be proud!
Its not always sane
Hey people who are looking in at us. Some of you are probably thinking why did we pay $13 000 for our kids to have 24/7 fun. (Even sleeping is fun here because Jon Lampard Sleep talks)The truth is your are sorely missinformed. I won't deny that it is lots of fun but there is tons of work to do aswell. We are in the middle of Hermeneutics and most of my classmates are exhausted from staying up late working on assignments. We have to work very hard, so you are getting your moneys worth in work. There is also alot of love at Kaleo probably alot more than there should be at times. If you come to visit be sure to get someone to take you to our resident retreat spot known as Manchester

KaleoLife
Hey Kaleo 3 Students!!!!
For those of you that don't know me, My name is Amber Fee and I'm a Kaleo 1 student. This year I'm at Briercrest and I have been given the opportunity to make up your page for the Eye Witness (the yearbook here) Basically the page includes all your student pic's, a few fun and candid photo's and a write up about Kaleo, what it is, and maybe even some specific things to your year. So... here's what I need from you! I would like to get some pic's off you (I emailed Jim about this, but maybe some of you have some awesome shots that he may not have seen yet... as long as it's not another picture of Parker's toe, cuz that's bad, so gross! so ya, you can email them to me (amber_fee@hotmail.com) make sure you send it HIGH RESOLUTION!!! cuz it's going in the yearbook and it's got to be good quality. And, if any of you that are good at English write-up's (like Jen, your summit write up was cool) if you would like to write a little write up that basically states what Kaleo is (the key phrase 8 month foundational program for developing young leaders comes to mind, but expand more than that) and then maybe even some things that are unique to Kaleo 3. If you could sum it all up in one paragraph or so and email it to me or post it in the comments section... that would be cool and then it would be a Uniquely Kaleo page! It would reflect the true Kaleo 3 Class. Ya, I'm probably going to open the write up request to the Kaleo 1&2's too cuz I really would like some good feedback to use. So hey, here's a project for you guys at 1 in the morning when your bored. Take Care Kaleo 3's, and know that you are in past Kaleo student's thoughts and prayers often.

S.A.L.T.S.
Kaleo just got back from an incredible five days in the Gulf Islands aboard the Pacific Grace. WIth 28 students, four leaders and five SALTS crew sharing space on a 138' schooner, we had no choice but to learn to live in community! It is amazing how much better we know one another now. The trip has set the stage for everything to follow this year.
