Are you too busy for God???

WARING: The following post is rather long, please only take time to read it if you complete it*

Well hello all. I am literally sitting here with a box of kleenex near by (single tear..lol) seriously though. My past week has been crap! Work has been good, family is doin ok, but my spiritual life is nowhere. I havent been rebelling or sinning harshly or nuttin, but I have been doin what I feared MOST in Kaleo, I can say honestly that I have been ashamed of the Gospel! It hit me really hard a few minutes ago when I was watching th new United DVD. There is a song on their (also on thier new CD, which is AwEsOme!) called 'Fire Fall Down'. WOW, I flat out balled the most I ever had with God and IT FELT GRRREAT!!! My last week at work has been awesome, no problems, job is easy and going well, but there have been countless times already where I just kept my FRICKIN mouth shut when I had the chance for something little!!! Why are we like this? Why is happening to me!!! And listening to the song by United totally broke me in half! Here are the words to the song....

"You bought MY life with the blood that you shed on the Cross. When you Died for the sins of Men, And You let out a CRY, Crucified...Now ALIVE in Me! These hands are YOURS, teach them to Serve as you please, and I'll reach out. Desparate to see All the Greatnessof God. May my soul rest ASSURED in You. I'll NEVER be the same, NO, I'll NEVER be the same...
Cause I know, that Your ALIVE, You came to fix My Broken life. And I'll sing, to Glorify Your Holy Name, Jesus Christ. You've changed it ALL, You broke down the wall. When I spoke and confessed, In You I AM Blessed! Now I walk in the Light, in Victorious sight of You...FIRE FALL DOWN, FIRE FALL DOWN, ON US WE PRAY, AS WE SEEK...FIRE FALL DOWN, FIRE FALL DOWN, ON US WE PRAY. SHOW ME YOUR HEART, SHOW ME YOUR WAY, SHOW ME YOUR GLORY"

WOW! I was falt out weeping. I AM FORGIVEN! I AM LOVED, I AM GOING TO BE WITH GOD! And this is how I treat the absolute privilige of being a Christian, by keeping my mouth shut! I want to tell you all now, as you read this, if your heart is aching from the way your spiritual life has been since the end (or rather, the begginng as it should be) of Kaleo, dont read anymore, get off your butt and go pray..RIGHT NOW..You ARE LOVED! You ARE forgiven and Blessed!

DO IT!

On a lighter note I guess, for the part few days I have been wanting to write about a 'Daily Bread' that I had read. The author wrote about the 1980, Mount St. Helens eruption and volcanic explosion. Now scientists had declared this volcano "dormant" and after the first explosion blew, the whole local population was evacuated, only later to have the side of the mountian blow as well. The Volcano exploded upward @ a speed over 150 miles per hour! The explosion shared the sheer power of about 500 atomic bombs!!! 230 square miles of forest were devestated and 57 ppl had lost thier lives. Scientists beleived that natural events would continue as normal..but they were very wrong.

Now it wasnt so much the story that had caught my attention, but rather the pre-read passage of 2 Peter 3:3-15 (I'd write it out, but its way to long for even me..so check it out yourself) But there were a few verses that really hit me. The passage is all about the day where the Lord will come back to us.

It is a great passage that I really enjoy reading in comparison to all the other ones about the coming of Christ. It forewarns us of the 'scoffers' who will say "so where is this 'coming' He promised? Ever since the death of our fathers, everything goes on as it has since the begining of creation!" The rest of the passage goes on to encouage us by telling us that these 'scoffers' have forgotten that long ago by Gods very words, the heavens existed and the earht was formed out of water and by water. And by the very same waters, the earth was completely destroyed. With the Lord, a day is a thousand years, and a thousands years, a day. The Lords is simply not slow in keeping His promise (as some would understand 'slow'), He is simply patient with us, not wanting any one of us to perish. The day of the Lord is going to come unexpected, like a thief in the night! The heavens will dissappear with a roar, all elements (as we know them) will be laid bare! Then it goes on to explian how we should react to this situation. "Make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and a peace with Him. Bear in mind that our Lord's paitence means salvation.."

So you can see how both stories (if you call them that) tell us of a future time where a similar confidence will be destroyed by the FIREY end of our world. Theres good news in it all too, God promises us also that he will "make new heavens and earth (vs. 13) and wants us to find safety in His son Jesus. We all just need to accept the GRACIOUS salvation we have been offered (once again relating to my first paragragh).

Well hope you enjoyed sitting through this long blog, and I hope everything is going great for ALL of you as embark on this journey that we are sent on. Peace and Blessings to all of you.

PS. Oh and what would a Derkson blog be with out a picture???? This is the group that came out from Toronto to help us with a VBS on the reserve that I serve on. I am going to visit these ppl at the end of summer before Briercrest. My BESTEST friend is the only girl wearing a hat. I'm the buzz-cut dude in the back corner...LOL. Heart you All!!!!

I think I speak for the rest of Kaleo when I say that we're behind you! But even more importantly, God stands with those who love him. We won't be brought down by the devil and his schemes when we go to him. He's our strong tower, our fortress.

That goes for all of us! No matter where we are at spiritually, no matter what we struggle with, no matter how much we fall short, we can always run to God.

Thanks for bringing this up Jason... we need to keep on the offensive. We need to keep giving our love and sharing the truth. Lets keep standing behind each other in prayer as we try to live as Jesus would.
