Derkson's Update*

Yeah, it was wee bit cool in the water.

Me performing 'Grow Old With You'

Sunshine Ski Trip
'Vertically Inclined Rock Gym' Edm, AB
First things first, I apoligize for all the pics not placed into a slideshow, it was my slow and dying computer that hath brought forth this iniquity.
So, just a few pics as an update on my life this past year. Everything from Ice blocking (blocks of ice down the slopes on the grass), Rock climbing @ 'Vertically Inclined', a Valentines evening our youth put on for the church and our 'Ice Dive for Peru' as a fundrasier. The ice was 2 1/2 ft deep and took 5 hrs to cut out with chainsaws, shovels and a backhoe. But we raised over $4,000 and made the news and frontpage of our local newspaper. We are going to Peru with an organization called 'Hungry for Life' from July 2-17. Our juniors will be lead by myself on a trip to Saskatoon late July with an organization that packs up old hospital supplies and ships them overseas to needy countries. But other than youth, life has been alright. I am evestroughing with a guy in my church and will be working a bit in Tumbler Ridge, BC this summer. My ministry with AWANA has been sweet, I have the Trek and 24/7 (gr. 7-9) group, Im the small group leader and only have 3 kids. I then am the Red group games leader and do the worship when everyone is together at the end. I love belting it out in front of kids and doing the actions, they are so much fun to be around and they dont critisize my Yoko Ono voice and Fred Penner actions..LOL. I have also been playing drums every sunday and LOVE IT!!! I play on both teams and have been able to voice my opinions and take charge in terms of the music. I also rotate one month on, one off as the 7-9 yr old sunday school teacher. I had that age group in Kaleo @ New Life and so its always fun and brings back memories* Also, the final phase of our church (the Gym) is being finished this spring, we have the firewall and foundation complete and the framing strats in April! The youth have really been taking charge this year too and stepping up to what it is that God has in store for them. The seniors are looked up to highly by the juniors and make great mentors. Our young adult and C/C group have been going through the book of Nehemiah and just finished it. What an example of true leadership and enpowerment of bodies! The guy that I was doing street min with is back form his DTS with YWAM, and we are so excited to start up again this summer down Boyle street and 96th Edmonton! Another graduated youth of ours is headed for Hillsongs, Austrailia for their worship/music program in July, still another on her way home from Africa after a few months there. Life here just takes my breath away and makes me realize the Joy of a calling and passion. I am daily smiling ear to ear being home, where I belong!
One thing I forgot and wish I had put on here...2 weeks ago we had a night in which we had canoe races. Well, the snow is still here and the ice is 2ft thick...but there are a few good hills out here and...haha, well lets just say that there was a few stitches, cut faces, bruises everywhere and a shattered cell phone* eh-hemm! There will be video up on facebook soon, hopefully. But as for now, duty calls and I must retire to the toilette.
Bye for now, hope to see some of you again next year @ Bcrest upon my visit.
TTFN my brothers and sisters!
Love the one and only guy who was birthed from his own mother and raised up in the church so free only to spree for two years and return with glee ever so happily.
God Bless.

Thanks for the update Derkson. Is that "Hungry for Life" organization based out of Chilliwack? My dad works for them..
i personally like the organization of the photos you took almost half of the webpage haha. nice to hear you doign well bud
I wouldn't expect anything less from any paddle boat on any sort of steep incline. Well done.
Yea Ice Blocking! And it was funny... as soon as I scrolled down and saw picture after picture, I knew the post was from Derkson. Good to hear from you again! I never tire of the long posts... and it seemed like forever before this post.
Oh yea, I missed the title, haha.
Charis: Yes, it's based out of Chilliwack, and thats sweet that you dad works there. A guy from our youth pastor's church there does too, thats where the connection came from..
Dave: Yeah, gotta love a slow bum comp and bred with dial-up...lol
Downey: good memories, haha, good solid Kaleo memories...
Jason P: yeah its been a while since I posted, partially cause I'm so busy, partially cuz of my computer resource..LOL but good to hear from ya, and the guy back form YWAM (Hungary) is Ben Zimmer, you may remember him from PRBI...
Jason! Thanks for the wonderful update. It is good to hear of you doing so well in the grace of God.
But... you have the whole slideshow thing within your grasp! You just need to reach out and grab it! Here is how (so easy):
1. Go to Picasa Web and log in with the same account and password you use for Blogger.
2. Once you are logged in, you will go to a page with your albums listed, and you will see one with all the pictures you just so haphazardly posted. Click on that album.
3. Note that you can "edit Captions" to each slide. On the left side of the album's page is a link that says "Embed Slideshow" - click on it.
4. In the window that comes up, you can set the size of the slideshow and a few other things. Then copy and paste the gobbleydoo script into your Blogger post (you can go back and edit your own posts) instead of all those photos you uploaded. Then re-publish you post.
5. Presto! Beautiful slideshow!
Double dog dare you!
I sure do remember Ben Zimmer! I can definitely see you guys makin a great team. God bless with that ministry!
