Hello everybody. It's been a while since I've posted...but it doesn't mean that I'm not reading. I am thinking of you all and reading up on your lives ;) (For those of you who post). So I thought I'd post because today Riley is 9 months and it's quite a milestone. He is the best thing that has happened to our family! Don't get me wrong, motherhood is tough....really tough. But I can't imagine doing anything else. It is tough in a lot of ways and I could probably keep writing about it for pages, but I will try to keep this short. (But for those of you who know me....I talk a lot! haha.)
Having a baby is challenging from the start and it has continued to challenge Nick and I's relationship daily. Riley is a BIG responsibility and it takes a lot of energy and time...I've found myself wondering a lot..."what about me?!" But despite all of the challenges he is amazing. He is handsome, strong, and makes me laugh a lot - which is great because I love to laugh! He is becoming such a little boy, no longer an infant and throughout his transformation from helpless to independent (as much as he can be at this stage) it has taught me SO much in my relationship with Christ.
I have learned a great deal of patience, self-control and how to get a grip on God. And although you'd think loving a baby is always easy because they are tiny and cute, I have learned what love means because it's not always something you want to do at 3am with a screaming baby and you haven't really slept or eaten, it seems, for 3 days. So it has been a quite a journey to say the least.
Nick and I are growing as well. We are both enjoying the HUGE personality coming out of this little 21 pound boy. He is SO friendly and LOVES to laugh. Which makes all the hard stuff seem not so hard.
About work....I am teaching swim lessons on my own, so it is very flexible and works out great for me. I am trying to do everything I can to stay home with Riley.
We have joined a small group and I am attending a "ladies time out" group once a week. We just finished reading a book called "grace-based parenting" by Tim Kimmel. I highly recommend it!
So we are doing pretty good. Life is confusing, so I'm glad that I'm not in charge of my life. I'm so thankful for my husband and for my son. I have been very blessed. Well gang I gotta go make dinner! Love ya's!

Hmmm...well we would like to come over for Downey and Andrea's wedding reception, but I'm not sure if we can yet. If we do end up coming over for that, then we'll be there the weekend of June 01!
