Goin' To The River...

It is good to know that a number of you are together tonight at Mikayla's, bringing in the New Year. And I would like to be sitting in a pew with you tomorrow, 'cause it's a very big day for Scotty Lowes. But I'm here and though I love Staff Retreat I must admit it is strange having to ask nearly everyone's name because of course I was not here much this summer. But God is good and I am having a few good conversations and observations that remind me why I'm here.

So Scott, may tomorrow be one of those anchor points in your life - the day when you said to the world, "Don't hold me back 'cause I'm just passing through. My citizenship is in heaven, and has been for some time, and this is just the official ceremony. I'm called to be in the world but I am done with being of it. I don't buy your crap about money and fame and glamour and sensuality and lust and looking out for me. I have given my life for Jesus and the gospel, and in doing so I will save it. And I will be a channel of God's grace to fill up the deep needs of this world, without fear and without compromise. I belong to Jesus the Messiah and have no other allegiance."
