Mongolia Minute

In case this didn't get to you, here's an update from Marissa's parents in Mongolia:

There is a saying in Mongolia that Spring is like a woman...always changing her mind. This is a very fitting saying because our weather can fluctuate from +30 to -5 in less than 24 hours. A couple weeks ago we went on the above pictured outing and had a wonderful picnic and the next morning we woke up to a blizzard and chilling temperatures. The fluctuation in our weather is a mirror of what is happening in the government here in Mongolia especially in regards to the rules regarding Foster homes. Our organization has spent the past few months going through a government re-registration for the 3 homes that we are running. There were many hoops to jump through and just when we felt we could finally breathe a sigh of relief the government decided to change many of the rulings regarding foster home care. At the moment things are very much up in the air. There are rumours that the government will only allow "orphanages" to continue and that all children in home situations will either have to move into a larger run facility or return to their dysfunctional families. The children in our homes are precious to us and we want the best for them. Please lift them and this whole situation up. Lift up Ruth our Alpha director as she meets with government officials in the coming weeks.
